New World Long Bay delicatessen staff Eleanor McKibbon and Maia Wood are raring to pass on their new-found cheese knowledge and handling skills to customers. They were among the first in-work learners to graduate from the EduBits Whitestone Cheese Co. Affineur Academy.

Supermarket co-owner Marcus Te Brake explains that the bite-sized micro-credential has “resulted in an increase in general [staff] engagement. They are definitely more confident.”

Subject expert and Otago Polytechnic’s Tumuaki Whakaako, Ron Bull, hosts a series of engaging online video lessons, allowing learners to complete the Te Reo Māori for the Workplace EduBit at their own pace.

Pam Thompson, Clinical Coordinator, College of Health at Otago Polytechnic now feels more comfortable using practical everyday words and phrases at work.

“It was easy and fun to do, and the online process was simple to follow,” she says.
